Melissa / Campana installation at Milan Design Week

An immersive installation giving new meaning to an artisanal technique.

It's the biggest design event on the planet, Milan Design Week.

A seven-day experience when the city lives and breathes creativity as a form of art in itself. And it's exactly where some of the biggest players in fashion, design, and art have shown their innovations and creative concepts.

Which is why DesignAction would not miss Melissa installation celebrating a 15 year partnership with the Campana Brothers and displayed in the heart of the Brera Design District, Via Palermo 1!!

Inspired by handmade braiding and crochet techniques, they have set up an installation with exclusive decorations made from Melissa technology and the raw material PVC – a cruelty-free substance that can be easily disassembled and recycled.

A wholly organic line is present in the stand, multiplying in every direction. Crochet pieces cover a pyramidal structure in the center of the main hall and create an immersive experience.

To bring the installation to life the Campana brothers got some special collaborative help from Brazil: artists, collectives, and also NGO Projeto Arrastão, a project focused on social development.

In Melissa / Campana artisanal know-how and care has inspired 4 new releases. Once again the duo breaks through the distance between ordinary and extraordinary.

Back in Brazil, more than 17 thousand meters of recycled strands from Melissa production took over the walls of Galeria Melissa SP, forming big, long, tubular cushions. It was the result of the work of more than 100 hands – in all, there were 26 Brazilian collectives and artists involved in the project. To help synchronize the creative process, the Brothers and Arrastão prepared a video tutorial demonstrating crochet technique.

The collab presents new models with the same characteristic crochet weave.

Crochet Bag has a versatile design with two shoulder strap options and is available in red, yellow, green and white.

Delicate stitching produces Campana Crochet, a ballerina flat that's available in seven different colors: red, gold, black, white, coral, yellow, and pink with glitter. Also available in Mini and Mel versions.

Plus: an exclusive, limited edition Campana Crochet in metallic red was created to celebrate the Fuorisalone installation.

A percentage of the profits from Campana Brothers collab products are reverted to the Campana Institute, whose mission is to preserve the legacy of the Campana Brothers using design as a transformative tool through social and educational projects.
