LEE BROOM creates landmark exhibition ‘PARK LIFE’ in Sidney, Australia

2019 sees leading British designer Lee Broom create one of his most significant landmark exhibitions to date with a presentation with Space Furniture in Australia. The installation is entitled ‘Park Life’ and will showcase for two weeks in March in Sydney. Set within an underground car park below the flagship showroom of Space Furniture, the 4,000 square feet presentation will be the largest show Lee Broom has created.

Employing the urban surroundings of the location, Lee Broom will transform the industrial car park and create a contemporary interpretation of a traditional garden park. Taking the form of a maze, ‘Park Life’ will take guests on a poetic journey of discovery through hidden passageways, with tableaus and vignettes showcasing the brand’s lighting, furniture and accessories in a whole new light.

The exhibition takes inspiration from the pleasure gardens of the 18th century which were laid out with mazes and miniature waterways. These were the places to be seen and to see the latest in art, architecture, music and illuminations. In much the same way that visitors were entertained in pleasure gardens centuries ago, this modernist interpretation will create a sense of escapism, amusement and drama for which Lee Broom’s shows are best-known for. In line with the brand’s continuing global expansion, Lee Broom will also be undertaking a tour of the region for the whole month of March and present a series of Design Talks in Singapore, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand coinciding with Singapore and Melbourne Design Weeks.

ECLIPSE IN POLISHED GOLD FINISH

The Park Life installation at Space in Sydney will debut a new version of Lee Broom’s award-winning Eclipse lights in a polished gold finish. Eclipse has a sculptural silhouette with a mobile-like quality that changes at every angle. Mirror-polished gold and acrylic discs interact, dissect and obscure, which both eclipses and reveals its illumination to the viewer at the same time. The new gold finish transforms the light into a warmer, softer interpretation of the original polished chrome finish.
