Alpi presents Gamperana Triplex, the wood that did not exist...
The aesthetic research of ALPI continues this year through new collections of wood surfaces that will be presented during FuoriSalone 2019. An in-depth exploration of the material and its forms, to narrate the beauty of wood and its design potential.
The new ALPI collections are the result of the company’s ability to go beyond the natural identity of wood and to suggest new conceptual and graphic dimensions, in collaboration with international designers, leading to original and exceptionally innovative collections. Suggestions that are developed to create woods with unique tones and patterns, also in novel textures not found in nature, based on workmanship balanced halfway between industry and fine tailoring. ALPI also moves forward with its research on the reproduction of the essence of wood and its most natural characteristics, enhancing the collections with projects that combine evocative atmospheres and tactile effects.
The exploration of new interpretations and design potentialities of wood is the starting point for the latest collaboration with Martino Gamper, who thanks to his background as a cabinetmaker has once again investigated new paths to stretch the boundaries of experimentation.
Halfway between design and conceptual art, in this project Martino Gamper putting the accent back on the process of workmanship and creation, in which he participates firsthand, and thanks to his extensive knowledge of the raw material, the designer has invented “Gamperana Triplex,” a new type of wood that does not exist in nature. The phase of cutting of ALPI logs becomes part of the creative process of the designer, with a decisive role in the achievement of the final results.
