Moooi Designs Badge of Authenticity for Furniture

The anti–counterfeit design nonprofit, Be Original Americas, backs Moooi’s launch of the Button, a near-field communication technology that guarantees a Moooi design is authentic, which is the latest leap forward in the ongoing battle against knockoff furniture.

The Button contains a wireless chip that works with near-field communication (NFC) technology, which enables communication between two electronic devices. A wireless chip inside The Button works with a smartphone app that provides the user with corresponding product information, including details about the origins of the design. This lets the purchaser verify the product’s authenticity.

Be Original Americas and Moooi will introduce the technology to the nonprofit’s members in an effort to make the technology a new standard for any authentic product, add value to the industry, and protect the future of design.
