“Enjoy the Beauty of Simplicity” - NUDE with Ron Arad and Sebastian Herkner
At Milan Design Week 2018, design brand Nude will, once again, occupy a space within the monumental Baroque structure of Palazzo Litta, where it will unveil new collections by established and emerging design talent, including a new never- before-seen masterpiece by one of Nude’s signature collaborators, Ron Arad.
Legendary architect and industrial designer, Ron Arad has created the ‘Concentrics’ collection for Nude, following his longstanding relationship with the brand as both a mentor and signature collaborator on both the ‘DecanteRing’ and ‘Red or White’ collections.
An innovator and creator, Arad has worked with Nude to fashion a piece designed to celebrate the transparency of glass by overlapping layers of crystal-clear glass and opaque lines. The vases, designed to be as beautiful when empty as when in use, can be stacked and rotated to create different patterns and shapes.
Nude will also present the ‘Ecrin’ collection by German design talent Sebastian Herkner, a group of containers with vibrantly coloured lids inspired by the round stones of the Earth Pyramids of Ritten.
The containers contrast thick glass bases with smooth delicate lids that seem to balance atop. Sebastian Herkner will display “Ecrin” alongside his new “Beret” collection inspired by the iconic French hat. This range comprises of colourful, sleek, brass-lidded vessels, remarkable for their elegant, effortless simplicity.
First seen at Paris’s Maison & Objet in January, the “Hepburn” collection has been designed to inspire mixologists and create an experience to elevate the drink itself to iconic status.
Designer Brad Ascalon has created a collection that is fragile yet strong, elegant yet playful and simple yet complex. The collection consists of highball and lowball glasses, coupes, a pitcher with stirrer, and a shaker.
Nude will also showcase its “Big Top” collection by Youmeus, designed to enhance the experience of preparing and serving drinks, inspired by circus jugglers, reflecting their movement and shapes. Made from gold-plated stainless steel, the set contains a shaker, strainer, jiggler, bottle stop, stirrer and zester. The serving set consists of matching glassware, ice cube bowl, tongs, straws and cocktail sticks.
