In 1995, IKEA made its debut at Milan Design Week, introducing the world to the concept of Democratic Design, which emphasizes form, function, low price, quality and sustainability.

This year we also had the world-exclusive launch of the new STOCKHOLM 2025 collection: focused on creating high-quality Scandinavian design at an affordable price, showcasing how quality design can turn collections into collectables.

In the exhibition there was also an area called ‘Do Something. Change Everything.’, which explored how small, everyday actions can create meaningful impact. The deep IKEA knowledge of life at home and sustainability was at the forefront, as the brand highlighted its ongoing work to inspire positive habits, showing the concrete steps IKEA is taking to make sustainable products a reality and inspire lasting change to the way we live.

Marking the 40th anniversary since the first launch of STOCKHOLM, IKEA unveiled its most extensive collection yet exclusively at Design Week— with 96-thoughtfully designed pieces reflecting a signature mark of high-quality materials and Scandinavian design.

“It is with great joy that we showcase the eighth edition of our flagship collection at Milan Design Week. Inspired by its namesake, this edition reflects the urban and natural landscape of Stockholm,” says Karin Gustavsson, Creative Leader for STOCKHOLM. “The collection embraces craftsmanship, marrying hands-on techniques with thoughtful materials to produce designs that we hope will be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Three Swedish designers, Paulin Machado, Nike Karlsson and Ola Wihlborg, each with their own distinct design approach, have crafted a collection that is both cohesive and full of standout pieces. The focus is on materials—solid wood, textured textiles, linen, leather, and rattan—selected for their durability and the beauty they develop over time. The result is a thoughtfully curated range, from statement sofas and handwoven wool rugs to mouth-blown glass vases and ceramic tableware.
